In this issue of Nursing Outlook, there are several articles that were outcomes of the first idea festival sponsored
by the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS). To get a better understanding
of what an idea festival is and how this particular idea festival came about, we have
included the information about both. Furthermore, we have included communication about
the upcoming Special Topics Conference to be held on October 14, 2015, at the Grand
Hyatt in Washington, DC, and the initial planning for the 2016 State of the Science
Congress to be held September 14–16, 2016, in Washington, DC. The general theme for
the State of the Science Congress will be determinants of health.
