Cited in Scopus: 44The importance of evidence-based practice (EBP) has been widely discussed in the literature.1-7 Defined as “the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values,”8 its incorporation into healthcare processes has been emphasized by accrediting bodies, government agencies, professional organizations, healthcare systems, and payers, among others. Today's incredible need for current information for practice, the knowledge from research9 that nurses practice based on what they learned in nursing school, the inadequacy and/or often outdated nature of usual information resources, time pressures, and the presence of the Internet and World Wide Web are all influencing factors in the pressure to conduct EBP.
