Three of the AAN board members, including myself and the executive director, were active in the National Nursing Research Roundtable (NNRR) on March 16–17, 2000. In addition, the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science was held March 16, 2000. - Other

Steps that strengthen both the Academy and its corporate owner, the American Nurses' Association (ANA). On December 27, 1999, the Articles of Incorporation were filed in the District of Columbia, creating the American Academy of Nursing as a legal entity, a 501(c)(3) within the American Nurses' Association. This filing moved the Academy from “departmental status” within the ANA to a legal entity that could transact business more independently to fulfill its mission. - FROM THE PRESIDENT
